Australia, United States and Caribbean Resorts, have self contained apartments. Self contained apartment typically has a complete set of facilities, including bathroom facilities, air conditioning and laundry area. Resorts can also feature theatres, swimming pools, Jacuzzi, a bar and areas where you can have barbecues.

However, if you are the adventurous type, and would want to try out an exotic place like the Philippines, you will experience staying in a nipa hut with an aircon, or if you really want to go on budget, a nipa hut, a bed and one bathroom, no aircon at all, just the breeze coming from the sea.

Some useful tips in finding resort accommodation are:

First, ask around and read reviews from real travellers, first class places like island hopping reviews are available at local airline magazines, not all exotic places are covered in the international review, except if you are a reader of National Graphic.

You may find some interesting resort places in an international review and expect first class facilities. However, if you are into an adventure, there are some existing resorts which don’t have first class facilities, but the view and the experience is one of a kind.

It’s good to navigate on sites where travellers flock on and exchange ideas; this will give you a good view of the resort accommodation.

Second, when travelling in an unknown place, make it sure that you are accompanied by an official tourist guide. When travelling with your family, it’s good that you have studied the place, and consider the children’s needs, before placing a resort reservation.

Third, check for the security, especially when you are coming in a different country.
